O Dia das Castanhas|The Chestnut Day

Once we like to maintain all of our traditions “alive”, Santa Eulália Private School celebrated chestnut day last November 11th, honoring Saint Martin.

This day began with a short introduction to its legend, where the students were infected with the Roman soldier’s generosity and kindness, a role model to all of us.

This was followed by the “Magusto”, with roasted chestnuts, the traditional gooseberry syrup and a lot of playing that certainly made the children jolly.

On this day, the students took advantage to pay a visit to the Castiis “grandparents” and gift them with some chestnuts. Between eating and drinking, all were able to share, socialize and give a little bit of themselves to the other.

This is the purpose of Saint Martin’s Day, that of which we desire to celebrate for many years!
